As we posted last week, TrueNorth is in very active field trials, having been used on three recent Search and Rescue tasks.
We’re also happy to announce that we’re expanding the field trial to include producing expedition maps for a team of backcountry adventurers who are attempting to do a ski and packraft traverse of the Coast Range from Vancouver, British Columbia to Skagway, Alaska: Traverse the Coast.
TrueNorth was designed with exactly this kind of expedition in mind!
Backcountry adventure revolves around maps; planning the route, deciding on where to place a food cache, how to access a certain ridgeline, or what pass to use. Alternate lines and mountains to climb. During the trip, answering the eternal questions “Where are we”, and “Where are we going”. Finding those food caches! Dealing with conditions and changing weather.
And finally, after the trip; documenting the route, possible future trips, and telling the story of where you’ve been.
We are very exciting to be using TrueNorth on a full fledged expedition, and will be posting periodically on the the team’s progress along the route.
